Inside Heaven: a selection of the Collegium collection

Cultural Institute of Mexico in Spain, Madrid
This is an exhibition that gathers the talent of prominent Mexican artists from the Collegium collection, conceived to be showcased at the Cultural Institute of Mexico in Spain. This selection aims to illuminate research and creative processes, exploring themes such as geological age, intricate writing processes, self-representation, and territorial resonances.

The title of the exhibition is inspired by the poem "Inside Heaven," by Nezahualcoyotl, a pillar of pre-Hispanic thought. In his poetry, the sky is evoked as a realm of self-determination and a portal to enigmas that seem unattainable; a metaphor that resonates in the way artists unravel their creativity, pursuing an understanding of both the immediate and the unexplored. An echo of the poem's question: "Where will we truly go?".

By being located at the Cultural Institute of Mexico in Spain, this exhibition reaffirms Collegium's commitment to promoting cultural exchange. This showcase takes on special significance as the first occasion where the Collegium collection focuses on a group of artists from the same geography, serving as a faithful reflection of the vast and vibrant panorama of Mexican contemporary art.

Artists: Carlos Amorales, Damián Ortega, Elizabeth Calzado, Pepe Mar, Jorge Méndez Blake, Juan Pablo Macias, Mariana Castillo Deball, Mario Garcia Torres, Ricardo Rendón, Tania Pérez Córdova, Teresa Margolles.

Curator: Aldones Nino.
